REGISTER 

Thank you for your interest and participation in the BUILD THAT PARK! Design Challenge.

You may register multiple entries for any/all Design Phases. 

Each Design Phase must be registered for separately. 

  • PHASE 1: THE INTERNATIONAL PIER
    PHASE 1: THE INTERNATIONAL PIER
    PHASE 1: THE INTERNATIONAL PIER
    There are no restrictions (re: size or materiality) for a bi-national pier extending out into the Pacific Ocean from the westernmost edge of the proposed bi-national park. Submission deadline is April 15, 2021. See the Design Challenge page for more information.
  • PHASE 2: COURTYARD FOR FREE SPEECH
    PHASE 2: COURTYARD FOR FREE SPEECH
    PHASE 2: COURTYARD FOR FREE SPEECH
    The 200’ x 200’ courtyard is centered on the international border line and may be any distance from the sea. There are no programmatic requirements, and any use is allowed. Submission deadline is May 15, 2021. See the Design Challenge page for more information.
  • PHASE 3: THE BOARDWALK
    PHASE 3: THE BOARDWALK
    PHASE 3: THE BOARDWALK
    Extend the existing seaside boardwalk inside the Mexican border, through to the northern (US) boundary of Friendship Park. Submission deadline is June 15, 2021. See the Design Challenge page for more information.
  • PHASE 4 : THE HISTORIC BULLRING
    PHASE 4 : THE HISTORIC BULLRING
    PHASE 4 : THE HISTORIC BULLRING
    No longer used for the purpose of bullfighting, the structure itself is beautiful. The challenge is to assume a use that allows large group gatherings, concerts, lectures etc. Submission deadline is July 15, 2021. See the Design Challenge page for more information.
